The Point In Being Green

I am sure you have noticed that people continue to talk about living a green life.

Even the Empire State Building is doing a huge sustainability retrofit to become one of the leading examples of economic and environmental revitalization. Also note that if you are visiting the Empire State Building, be sure to checkout the Zalman Silber Skyride.

The subject of green living is becoming bigger an bigger everyday, with people all over the TV, radio and newspapers talking about going green and the benefits it will have on our planet. But, is there really any need to be green and if so why?

The biggest reason for becoming environmentally friendly is to help save our planet. Emissions from vehicles are destroying the ozone layer and there are vast landfill sites full to the brim with discarded rubbish that cannot disintegrate. With the carbon dioxide levels on our planet growing everyday, which is causing the depletion of our ozone layer, soon our planet will be uninhabitable. As the planet gets in worse condition with each passing year, it will be making life more and more difficult for the population of the earth. More and more people simply discard products and storage containers which could be utilized again and again, instead they throw these products into our trash dumps. Because of advancing technology, cans, bottles and paper shall no longer be the only things that can be recycled, soon pretty much everything will be able to be recycled. If everybody were to begin recycling anything that can be recycled, we would greatly reduce the amount of air pollution we produce.

The following reason is to help save animals which are dying out. Right now we cut down a lot of trees in wild rain forest’s, which are home to a variety of endangered species. As we continue to strip mine our planet we are exterminating wildlife which we will never see again. As said above we can now recycle, so we don’t need to cut down as many trees and some companies are now planting two trees for every tree they use. However it can take an extremely long amount of time for these saplings to mature, it is almost a day late dollar short kind of thing, but at least people are making an effort. Again, recycling and reusing materials can help reduce the need for cutting down more trees which will help save animals.

Another thing people can do is to start using more organic products. Organic products are much better for our health and our planet. Many individuals start their green living lifestyles by consuming more organically grown foods. By eating more organic foods you are reducing the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers used to grow food. All of these added chemicals aren’t good for us and could cause illness, so its best to stay away from them. The alternative is organic foods, which have nothing added to them, meaning they’re totally natural. There’s a higher price to pay for organic and natural foods, but undoubtedly its a cost really worth paying if your overall health is held in the balance?

Going for a Eco-friendly lifestyle is one thing that I really feel everyone in the world ought to be doing, not only for our overall health but also in order to help decrease the destruction of our ozone layer as well as air pollution. It doesn’t matter if you’re able to only carry out tiny elements, for example walking rather than driving, it all will help.
